Genet Yigezu / Board Member

Currently, Genet works in the United Children’s Fund Headquarters, New York, USA under the Office of Emergency Programmes. She has experience in the areas of Humanitarian Financing, budget, and Contracts Management. Genet has been working in the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Head Quarter, in New York since 1987. She has been working in various capacities from Secretary to Senior Secretary in Programme Division and moved up to Programme Associate, Administrative Associate and Humanitarian Financing. Genet joined UNICEF New York as an Administrative Assistant in 2005 in the Office of Emergency Programmes (EMOPS). She is currently working in the areas of Humanitarian Financing. Her field experience includes two years in the UNICEF Country Office in Addis Ababa at various levels and in different areas; and a two-month assignment in UNICEF Nyala, South Darfur-Sudan as a Field Office temporary Operations Manager. She has experience in the areas of human resources, contracting, budget management, emergency fund monitoring and general administration. She has also extensive experience with coordinating, monitoring, and reporting of the Emergency Programme Fund (EPF) and Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF). Genet earned an MPA from Metropolitan College of New York, USA and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. In her free time, Genet enjoys cooking, listening to Gospel music and spending time with family and friends.
