Mekdelawit Selomon is 13 years old and in fifth grade. She lost her father 3 years ago, and her mother's health is not good. She has one brother, Tensae, who is 7 years old. She lives with her mother who makes a little money by selling tea to day laborers at a construction site. Before she came to Children's Heaven she often went without food for a whole day because they were too poor to buy any. Mekdelawit's favorite subjects are English and Social Science wants to be a doctor. She is a member of the children's choir at her Church. |

Meron Alebachew is 11 and in grade six at school. Meron wants to be a teacher just like her sister! |

Mekdes Sewnet is 13 and in 8th grade. Mekdes lost her father and lives with her mother and step father. She also has a younger brother. Her mother is often sick. Mekdes is an active girl who likes to be friendly with everyone. Mekdes wants to be a pilot when she grows up. |

Mesaye Kelemework is 16 years old and in
grade nine. Since her mother died 8 years ago
she's lived with her brothers and her father. Her
older brother works in a hotel and so helps the
family with money. Since joining Children's
Heaven last year she has been encouraged to
continue at school and wants to become an actor. Her father says “Mesaye has become the lady of the house! I praise the Lord for Children's Heaven.” |

Meseret Getnet is 14 years old and in grade
six. She has lost both her parents and lives with
her two older sisters. Before joining Children's
Heaven Merseret was a 'dumpster girl' and had to scavenge through garbage for food or items to sell. She had to give up school after severely burning her feet while scavenging. Meseret loves playing with her friends at Children's Heaven – her favorite game is hide and seek. When she grows up she wants to be a doctor. |

Meskerem Terecha is 16 and in grade nine. She has lost her father and lives with her mother and two brothers in one small room. Her mother does laboring work on road construction sites to support her family. Meskerem is a very detail oriented girl and goes the extra mile to please others. She likes school and wants to train to be an engineer when she leaves. |

Meseret Niguse is 18 and in grade nine. After the death of her parents she lived with an extended family who abused her both mentally and physically. Children’s Heaven helped her settle into new accommodation and she is now enjoying school and has a very good character. She is very good at maths and wants to be an accountant. |

Nigst Bisrat is 13 years old and an 8th grader. Nigest lives with her widowed mother and her brother. Her mother does laboring work to support her family. Nigest is a joyful girl and is good at school. She would like to be a doctor when she grows up. |

Meskerem Mengistu is 14 and in grade eight. She lives with her elderly father who is bed ridden, her physically and mentally disabled mother and two siblings. Their house is too small for all of them to sleep in so Meskerem goes to a neighbor’s house at night. Meskerem is a funny girl who wants to crack jokes all the time and makes us all laugh! When she grows up she wants to be an artist. |

Rahel Berhane is 14 years old and in grade
ten. Her father is dead and she lives with her mother, two sisters and one brother. Her mother does laboring work to support her family. She is an active girl and participates in a lot of activities. Rahel loves school and her grades are always good. She would like to be a scientist when she grows up. |

Rut Tadesse is 15 years old girl and a 7th grader. She lost her father four years ago. She has two brothers and lives with her mother who does laboring work to support the family. Rut's favorite subjects are Biology and Maths and when she grows up, she wants to be a doctor. |

Tarikwa Walteji is 14 years old and in 9th grade. She lost her father and lives with her widowed mother and brother. Tarikwa was a very unhappy girl before she joined Children’s Heaven and would not talk to anyone about her problems. But now Tarikwa is a much happier girl and is able to talk with others. She is also good at school and wants to be a scientist when she grows up. |

Senait Altaseb is 16 years old and in grade six. Since her father died Senait has lived with her mother and sister in a rented room. She used to be a 'dumpster girl' because she had to scavenge through waste to find food, things to sell or plastic grocery bags to use as cooking fuel. Senait enjoys playing soccer and wants to train to be a doctor when she leaves school. |

Tegist Besufekad is 13 years old and in 4th grade. She lost her father when she was three years old and lives with her mother, sister, brother and grand mother in one rented room. Mother supports the family by doing laboring work. Tigest's favorite subject is English, and she would like to be a doctor when she grows up. |

Shewaye Abat is 15 years old and in grade seven at school. She lives with her blind mother and baby brother. Before starting to get support from Children's Heaven last year Shewaye didn't go to school. The family was so poor that she had to spend each day scavenging through piles of waste to find food or items to sell. Shewaye likes playing soccer and when she grows up she wants to be a doctor. |

Tigist Shewangizaw is 11 years old and a 6th grader. Tigist and her sister Bethlehem lost their mother five years ago and live with their father in one room supervised by their Aunt who lives close by. Their father does laboring work outside of Addis so has to leave very early and gets home very late at night. Tigist's favorite subjects are Maths and English and she wants to be a doctor when she grows up. |

Tiruwork Bedada is 15 and in 9th grade. Her mother is dead and her father has abandoned her. Before coming to Children's Heaven Tiruwork was going from one house to other offering to do chores in exchange for a bed and the chance to go to school. She now lives with her older brother who does laboring work. Tiruwork is a charming girl and wants to be a doctor when she grows up. |

Asnakech Dessu is a 12 years old girl and a 7th
grade student. Her mother died when she was one year old and her father abandoned her. She now lives in extreme poverty with her extended family. Asnaketch's favorite subject is social studies and she would like to be a doctor when she grows up. |

Wosene Bezabeh is 16 and in grade ten. Both of Wosene's parents have died. She is a loving girl and easily gets along with people. When she grows up Wosene wants to be a doctor. |
|
Assefu Mickeal is 14 years old and in 7th grade. Both Assefu's parents are alive but they are too poor to support their three children. Her Father is elderly and her mother has poor health. They live in a house that is cracking and tilting. During her free time Assefu helps her mum at home with the cleaning and cooking. Biology is her favorite subject and she wants to be a doctor when she grow up. |
